| Smell of leather goods in the leather shop in Building L or in the leather market in Florence,,, |
Comment History | During the early winter months, the roasting of chestnuts from the sidewalk vendors in Vomero, |
| Fresh baked from pasticeria on Via Petrarca, scent of lemons and granita di limone on the Amalfi Drive to Positano, the carbon monoxide when driving thru the tunnels between Mergellina and Bagnoli |
| Motorcyle/auto repair shops remind me of Johnny's shop down in old Pozzuoli. Greasy, oily and 50cc exhaust mingling with the seaside docks and cafe aromas. Mmmmm...sweet. |
Original Post | SMELLS OF NAPOLI… We all have certain scents we remember — or can't forget, ranging from the aroma of a crowded streetcar in the summer, the fish market at Mergellina, to pizzas cooking in wood ovens, to piles of street litter during garbage strikes, or the strong smell of coffee roasting (not sure exactly from where) along via Roma. Another I recall is the distinct scent of 4711 cologne worn by men and women. What scents bring up memories for you? |
